Smile Design Photos

Before-and-After images of YOUR patients so you can show them YOUR work - before you do the work.

This service gives the dentist the opportunity to show the patient what can be done for them. For the dentist, it's a great "tool" with no big investment.
Why should you go through the trouble to use this service?
1. Most importantly, it eliminates any miscommunications about how anterior work will look when it's done. This greatly reduces the need for adjustments and remakes. Why wait to see what the patient thinks AFTER you put in over $1,000 worth of veneers? No more unrealistic or unattained expectations!

2. When talking with a patient about cosmetic work, you don't have to rely on the patient's imagination - hoping they fully comprehend what can be done.
AND, for the dentist, it's a simple process:

The dentist takes the photo/s of the patient and emails the photo/s to us along with a selection of the desired smile design from the Lorin Library. The dentist also includes any special instructions related to the desired results to show in the photo. We'll email the photo back with the patient's "new smile".

It's extremely effective when the patient can see a photo of themselves with the "new" dental work before it's done.
Using these 5 tips will improve your overall success with Smile Design Photos.

Most Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
Q. How do the dentists accurately convey what they want to accomplish so that the photo properly represents what can and will be done?
For a cosmetic case involving a complete new look: Dentists select the shape or the teeth from the Lorin Library. It's a simple system and when utilized, it will accurately convey your desires to us. The images are the copyrighted Lorin Library photos and as such, we cannot copy the book for you, however, we can supply a basic explanation of the Lorin Library design concept and some examples of the tooth shapes that the Lorin Library references. Call us when you're ready and we'll arrange to get the information to you.
A.

Q. Is it necessary to create a complete new smile? In other words; how few or how many teeth must be involved?
A. We can replace one tooth, close a diastema, or do a complete new smile. Multiple images of the same pt for special case planning, that will be done for a negotiated fee.

Q. How long does it take to get the photos back?
A. As with everything we do for the dentists, we'll work to the dentist's schedule. Some images will take much longer than others. We like to have at least 24 hours to complete the photo after we receive the dentist emails it, but we can usually complete the process in a few hours if that's necessary.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. If you send us an average minimum of $1,500 per month in lab work, there's no charge for the service. The amount of photo service that a dentist will receive per month is based on the dentist's average monthly account total.
If a dentist doesn't use our lab as a primary lab, prices start at $45 for a single case as shown above - any number of teeth. This includes occasional "re-working / refining" of a photo for a case. See footnote 1 below.
If a dentist wants to do additional images for other options, those will be completed for $35 each (when using the same original photo).
A dentist may request a credit for the cost of the basic photo work-up if the case is sent to us for the lab work. IMPORTANT: The credit must be requested when the case is sent to us because we have no method by which we can automatically track / match new in-coming lab cases with those patients that had previous Smile-Design Photo service.
Credit on an individual case will be given at the rate of $10 per unit - up to a maximum of $80. Example: We will not issue a credit for a $45 case-image for a case involving single unit - a single unit case would be eligible for a $10 credit. We will issue a credit of up to the total charges for that patient's images if there are a sufficient number of teeth involve in the lab work to allow the credit.

Q. Is sales tax added to the cost of the photos?
A. There is NO sales tax for Arizona dentists. In Arizona, this imaging service is considered a "Professional Service" - like an architectural drawing - and as such, there is no sales tax due or collected on the transaction. Dentists in other states must check the tax codes in their state to be sure that there is no 'use tax' or other taxes that must be paid when paying for any product or service purchased from a business in another state.

Q. Can I buy the software if I find I'm doing a lot of photos and I think it would be better to own it?
A. Yes, we can sell the software to you AND we can demonstrate it to you and answer your questions before the purchase.

Q. Will we provide the photo service directly to the general public?
A. Yes, prices for the general public start at $85 per image and must be pre-paid.

Footnote 1: There may be occasions in which the dentist will be tempted to spend additional time refining the images with the goal of getting a commitment from the patient when, in reality, the patient has no serious intention of having the work done and is requesting the additional images for any number of reasons - one of which is because there's no cost or obligation for the patient.
We strongly advise that dentists use the images we provide as conceptual photos to the extent possible and only get involved in additional refining / reworking of the images when the images don't correctly represent the work that can or will be done OR when there's a strong commitment from the patient. We're not opposed to spending additional time modifying the images if the dentist feels that the revisions are essential to satisfy the patient and / or they are necessary to correctly represent what can or will be done for the patient.
